Tsimshian Man Print (8×10)

This Tsimshian Man is painted using only two colors (red and black) and four shapes (ovoids, trigons, S-shapes and U-shapes), yet is a clearly a portrait of a man.  Note that while his beard is fully depicted, his hair is only suggested – keeping the focus on his facial features.  This is very different from the stylized versions of humans seen in traditional Tsimshian formline art.  This portrait is intended to pair with my painting of “Tsimshian Woman“.  I am considering developing this type of painting further since it is a style rarely, if ever, seen.  Tell me whether you think I should pursue “formline portraiture” in your review!
